Event Safety & Risk Assessment

For any public event it is necessary to carry out a Risk Assessment – i.e a careful look is taken at what is planned, and the site where it is happening, to identify any aspects that could be a danger to the public, and how to reduce the risk.

Most communities include people with risk assessment experience (e.g. teachers, social workers, fire officers). The assessment should be made during the initial planning, then repeated immediately before the public arrives, to make sure all remedies are in place and circumstances have not changed.

You should also check if the site is covered by public liability insurance, or by the insurance of any group to which you are affiliated.  If you’re uncertain about any safety/insurance, please talk to your local Climate Friendly Fortnight co-ordinator or Contact Us (e-mail address to follow)
