This WildNet Acceptable Use Agreement applies to all staff of the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT) and to those others offered access to our resources.

General Principles

Use of WildNet is permitted and encouraged where such use is suitable for business purposes and supports the goals and objectives of RSWT. WildNet is to be used in a manner that is consistent with RSWT's standards of business conduct and as part of the normal execution of an employee's job responsibilities.

• RSWT email accounts, Internet IDs and web pages should not be used for anything other than RSWT-sanctioned communications.
  
  
• Use of Internet and email may be subject to monitoring for security and/or network management reasons.
  
  
• The distribution of any information through the Internet, computer based services, email and messaging systems is subject to the scrutiny of the RSWT. RSWT reserves the right to determine the suitability of this information.
  
  
• The use of computing resources is subject to UK law and illegal use will be dealt with appropriately.
  
  
• Members of staff are responsible for the actions of any volunteers, guests, visitors, outside engineers etc under their supervision.
  
  
• Contravention of the contents of the WILDNET ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY may result in access being withdrawn and further action may need to be taken.
  
• These requirements may be modified in response to changing demands, both operational and legislative.

Users Shall Not:

General

• Make or post indecent remarks, proposals or materials.
  
  
• Participate in gambling and/or gaming.
  
  
• Solicit emails for personal gain.
  
  
• Originate or forward electronic chain mail.
  
  
• Conduct unsolicited mass mailings (spamming).
  
  
• Send or solicit any material that is obscene or defamatory or which is intended to annoy, harass or intimidate another person.
  
  
• Represent personal opinions as those of RSWT.

Confidentiality

• Upload, download or otherwise transmit commercial software or any copyrighted materials belonging to parties outside of RSWT or to RSWT itself without appropriate permission.
  
  
• Reveal or publicise confidential or proprietary information which includes, but is not limited to: financial information, marketing strategies and plans, databases and the information contained therein, computer software source codes, computer/network access codes and business relationships.

Security

• Download any software or electronic files without following previously approved virus protection measures.
  
  
• Intentionally interfere with the normal operation of the system, including (but not limited to) the propagation of computer viruses and sustained high volume traffic that substantially hinders others in their use of the system.
  
  
• Examine, change or use another person's files, output or user name for which they do not have explicit authorisation.
  
  
• Use another person's identification to access any part of WildNET.
  
  
• Pass on details of their individual WildNET account details, including username and password, to any other person either inside or outside the Trust partnership.
